Frequently Asked Questions

You probably said that about pizza!! The point is, we WANT you to have a blast! Many start larping wondering that very thing. From that first event we were hooked, and every experience was better than the last. We made amazing friends and became a wonderful family. We want to see that for you! If it doesn't work out, it won't cost you a thing and you will always be welcome back if you change your mind! Unless you're a jerk of course. :)

How do I prepare for my first event?

  • It is our goal to make LARP accessible to someone off the street! We're not quite there yet, but we can certainly help with your journey. Don't get so wrapped up in the preparations that you stop yourself from coming because of some overwhelming checklist of things to do. We're easy, so you have our permission to go easy on yourself. It's just a game!
  • Your first consideration is some kind of general costume. Rest assured, it will change over time, so it need not be elaborate. Consider your comfort above all else! Buying the coolest boots ever does you no good if you can't walk because of them. Loose fitting pants and shirts that allow layers underneath might be a good idea. We play a lot at night and sometimes it gets cool, right before you fight a battle and start sweating. Being able to easily change your layers is a move you'll be happy you made. See videos below for some affordable costuming tips on YouTube.
  • Bring extra clothes. As we mentioned, layers are key for body temperature, but it's also nice to be able to change into a dry outfit before going to bed or after a bit of rain or sweat.
  • You'll know when you know! Don't waste money on that custom made suit of Plate Armor, that expensive latex weapon, or that amazing cloak until you're sure it's right for your character. Keep it cheap and simple until you know what you want and perhaps what your character can afford in game. Armor has a distinct advantage in game and you'll have to cough up some game coins to buy it and some skill points to be able to function in it, so it wouldn't pay to invest money into something your character cannot afford to use.
  • Bring sleeping gear with a little extra if you can. Waking up shivering is no fun! An extra blanket, a soft cap or some thermal underwear can be a wonderful thing even in the summer. Be ready for cold and you won't have to be cold. Talking with your cabin/tent mates about what extras you all have can help everyone ensure a good nights sleep.
  • Keep your needed medications with you at all times. An inhaler in your cabin does you no good out in the woods. Also, be sure to let us know about them as you check in.
  • Skim the rulebook. We have left it quite short for you to grasp the basic principles. Don't worry if there are some things you don't quite grasp. Sometimes you just have to play a game to figure it out. There will be others there to help you understand and if you make some mistakes, it's ok... game.. remember?
  • Beware the rabbit hole that is YouTube. You could spend days watching videos to prepare for, well,... absolutely nothing that happens here. LARPs are quite varied and while there is sure to be some good advice out there, it might not be relevant or even conducive to your enjoyment of our particular game. We have included a few videos below that should get you started, then maybe wait until after your first event to choose others, or just come and play!
